The Heart Behind Remote Study Academy

Remote Study Academy was born from a simple but powerful idea: that learning should feel personal, meaningful, and global. I’m Yoly Rueda, a language teacher, lifelong learner, and passionate communicator. I founded Remote Study Academy in 2020 to connect with students around the world and help them grow not only as English speakers but as thinkers, professionals, and global citizens.

I studied Fine Arts and History at NYU, earned a Master’s in International Relations from Universidad Francisco Marroquín, and I’m a certified English–Spanish translator here in Guatemala. Now, I’m completing a Master’s in Education through the University of the People—online, just like the classes I teach. It was important to me to understand what it feels like to be an online student, too.

From the start, I wanted to harness the power of technology to connect with learners around the world—to make learning global and accessible. I believe that education shouldn’t be limited by geography, and that meaningful learning experiences can happen from anywhere.

And thanks to that same technology, I get to do all of this from home—often with my dachshunds, Dante and Emma, napping nearby. When I’m not teaching, you’ll find me reading about mythology, getting lost in history, or spending quiet moments with my family.

At Remote Study, lessons are tailored to each student. We talk about real things, explore culture, sharpen communication, and build skills that matter—whether you’re preparing for a presentation, improving fluency, or just finding your voice in English.

Learning here isn’t about perfection—it’s about connection.
